WHEN FEEDS FEEL LIKE A BATTLE

Bottle Aversion Support in South West Wales

Has your baby got bottle aversion?

  • They cry and push the bottle away.
  • Feeds only work when they’re half asleep.
  • Every feed feels stressful and exhusting.
  • Tried everything but nothing helps?

I’m Tors Pearcy, an IBCLC Infant Feeding Specialist. I provide gentle, non-judgemental support for families in Carmarthenshire, Swansea & South West Wales.

Bottle aversion isn’t just fussy feeding - it can be distressing, frustrating and confusing.

But, with the right approach, your baby can learn to feed calmly again.

Why Bottle Aversion Matters!

Feeding aversion isn’t refusal or preference—it’s a learned emotional response where feeding has become stressful. It is often triggered by pain, pressure, or past feeding battles. Here are some signs your baby might have an aversion:

Refuses to eat despite hunger
Cries and tenses
Upset at seeing the bottle
Only feeds when sleepy
Avoids being held to feed
Feeding feels like a battle

Why Resolving Bottle Aversion Is Important

you’ll start and keep going longer

Feeding Aversion Impacts Intake

Unresolved feeding aversion can lead to reduced milk intake, risk of dehydration, and faltering growth.

you’ll avoid common hiccups

Avoids Misdiagnosis and Over treatment

Feeding aversion is often mislabelled as reflux, allergy, or behavioural issues. Identifying aversion correctly is vital to help reverse it.

you’ll feel confident and calm

Supports Infant-Parent Bonding

Feeding struggles can impact bonding, parental confidence, and long-term feeding behaviours.

Rebuilding Trust at Feeding Time

Feeding your baby shouldn’t feel like a battle—but when a feeding aversion develops, that’s often exactly what it becomes. You might recognise your baby is hungry, yet every feed ends in tears, tension, or total rejection.

A consult with me means we work to create a calmer, baby-led feeding environment. My role is to support you in recognising aversion behaviours, removing pressure, and gently helping your baby regain trust at the bottle—on their terms and in their own time.

“We really didn't know where to turn with our 4 month old who was suffering with silent reflux, CMPA, slow weight gain and signs of bottle aversion, but Tors gave us the magic wand and put us on the right road to overcome these hurdles

Overnight, our baby went from drinking 10oz in 24hrs to 23oz!”
