GENTLE SUPPORT FOR BOTTLE REFUSAL
Bottle Refusal Support in Carmarthenshire & Swansea
Is your breastfed baby refusing bottles?
- Took bottles at first, then suddenly refused.
- Pushes the teat out with their tongue.
- Chews instead of sucking.
I’m Tors Pearcy, an IBCLC Infant Feeding Specialist. I provide gentle, evidence-based support for families in Carmarthenshire, Swansea & South West Wales to overcome bottle refusal when you want or need your baby to take a bottle.
Why Bottle Refusal Matters!
There are many reasons why you might want your baby to be able to feed away from the breast at times, such as returning to work early, needing to be away from baby regularly or just wanting to give a bottle once a day. My sessions cover:
REASONS YOU MIGHT WANT TO USE A BOTTLE
Returning to work
Sometimes your job, health or other commitments mean you’ll be apart from your baby and need to use a bottle/cup.
Peace of Mind
For some it is important to feel that their baby can take a bottle for their own mental health needs.
Maternal Choice
Sometimes there doesn’t need to be any more of a reason than ‘because I want to’ and that is just as valid!
Introducing a bottle to a breastfed baby
Baby was happy taking a bottle then suddenly started to refuse? Told to wait ‘until your supply regulates’ and now baby is refusing a bottle? Sound familiar? There are good reason why babies suddenly ‘forget’ how to bottle feed, and my bottle refusal consults will help you find out the root cause and ways we can help them overcome it.
“Our 6 month old who we couldn't get to take a bottle after weeks of trying and failing, is now taking a full feed from a straw bottle, having got the hang of it within a few days! We honestly cannot recommend Tors enough.
She was so thorough, ensuring that she knew everything about our journey both prior to her visit and during so that she could tailor our plan and ensure nothing was missed.”
